Actor Vijay is one of the prominent heroes of South India, and he has acted in more than 65 films in Tamil. He is now busy shooting for his film ‘Leo, which is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and the actor has also signed up for his next film, ‘Thalapathy 68, with director Venkat Prabhu.

Now, reports suggest that Vijay will be taking a 3-year break from acting after completing his 68th project.

According to media reports, Vijay will be taking a temporary break from films to concentrate on the 2026 Tamil Nadu state assembly elections.

It is still unclear if Vijay will be taking a plunge into politics; however, his fan club, the Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, has been involved in local political elections, and it is reportedly said that the members will be contesting the urban local body elections as an individual group without seeking or lending support to another political party.

The new buzz created on social media about Vijay taking a break for 3 years has made his fans both happy and sad. Fans are happy as their favourite actor will be stepping into politics, but at the same time, they are worried as they will miss the actor’s films. This is not the first time an actor has been said to take a break from his career and focus on a political career. Earlier, MG Ramachandran and Kamal Haasan also followed the same pattern and made a comeback in the film industry after a few years.

However, an official confirmation of Vijay’s political career has yet to be made. On the work front, Vijay’s ‘Leo’ is set to release in theatres on October 19. The actor’s next with Venkat Prabhu will go on grounds in January 2024.
