According to the Leprosy Prevention Unit of the Ministry of Health, 10% of leprosy patients in Sri Lanka are children under the age of 14.
Dr. Prasad Ranaweera said the percentage of child leprosy patients should be less than 4% in a country where leprosy is well controlled.
In the first 9 months of this year, 1,155 leprosy patients have been reported.
