The protestors claimed that there were two Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologists at the Killinochchi hospital but one had been transferred and the other is overseas on higher education.
As there are no Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologists at the Killinochchi hospital now, the pregnant mothers have to travel to either the Mulaithivu or Jaffna hospitals.
In serious situations patients are transferred to the Jaffna hospital and recently two such mothers were transferred to the Jaffna hospital in critical condition.
The protestors also handed over a letter to the Northern Health Minister G. Gunaseelan today, seeking a solution to their issues.
A large crowd had gathered for the protest.
