Date to summon IGP before CC, uncertain Featured

Although IGP Pujith Jayasundara has been summoned before the Constitutional Council to inquire as to why he had not implemented the recommendations of the police commission, a finalised date is yet to be informed, the 'Ravaya' reports.

This is due to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, who chairs the CC is overseas, the newspaper adds.

Last month, the Police Commission has asked the IGP Pujith Jayasundara to show cause as to why he has not implemented the commission's recommendations.

It is said that the IGP has been asked to show cause over the non-implementation of six recommendations.

They are the failure to initiate the Acting DIG post given to the Killinochchi Division SP Palitha Siriwardena, political vengeance, non-implementation of the promotions list, failure to remove the Narammala OIC, interdiction of the OIC of the Police Statistics Division etc.
