Officers who fraudulently released fuel, to face disciplinary action Featured

Disciplinary action is to be initiated against three senior officers of the Petroleum Corporation who had illegally released a stock of fuel bowsers during the price increase of fuel in May.

This legal action is initiated against the Distribution Manager of the Kolonnawa terminal of the Petroleum storage facility, Senior Distribution Officer and the Assistant Accountant.

While the initial action against them has commenced, they have been transferred to other facilities.

Investigations commenced after Minister Arjuna Ranatunge was notified that the trio had illegally released 45 bowsers of fuel at the time the decision was taken to increase the fuel prices, when there is a rule to not release fuel until the price increase is implemented.
