He noted that family bandism is not suitable for the country, adding that this was the main reason for his defeat at the previous election.
Welgama said due to preference being given to his family members many of the ministers were disgruntled leading to disputes within the party.
He warned that Maithripala Sirisena became the common candidate at the last Presidential election as he was not given his rightful place within the party and if Rajapaksa is not careful, there is a strong possibility that another Sirisena could emerge.
Welgama made this statement during an interview with ‘Neth’ FM.
