Committee probes Pujith Jayasundara Featured

A three member committee appointed by the Public Administration Ministry will meet tomorrow (04) to record statements from witnesses into an allegation that IGP Pujith Jayasundara had received Rs. 12 million from a former principal of Trinity College, Kandy.

Jayasundara, as the DIG in charge of Kandy at the time, had obtained the money from the past pupils association of the school in order to provide protection to principal R. Gilbert in 2008, it is alleged.

On September 28, the IGP gave a three-hour long statement to the committee.

Meanwhile, Jayasundara says he will hold a media briefing together with the DIGs and SSPs to detail progress made by the police and future plans.
