Within the last 24 hours, Police Headquarters has received reports of 11 sexually abused children below the age of 16, the ‘Aruna’ newspaper reports.
Police have arrested 05 persons in this regard.
One suspect is said to be a 52-year old farmer who was arrested for sexually abusing three 13-year olds for a period of a year. The suspect is said to be a relative of the victims.
The other cases are reported from the police stations of Kamburupitiya, Hungama, Weligama, Katharagama, Nelliadi, Hungamuwa, Kalawana and Matara.
