Appeal against Raviraj case verdict Featured

The lawyer who represented the interests of slain TNA MP Nadaraja Raviraj says he disagrees with the Colombo high court ruling to acquit all the five suspects, and will appeal the decision.

M.A. Sumanthiran, also MP from the same party, say the verdict shows that the Sri Lankan judicial system cannot be trusted.

That is due to this reason that there is a demand for an international court to try war crimes, says Sumathiran.

The attorney general had filed the case, citing five persons, including three Navy men, as the suspects in the Raviraj murder.

Sumanthiran has told BBC Sandeshaya that no one had been found guilty for the murder carried out in the street in broad daylight.
