He has told ‘Mawbima’ that seating arrangements in the House for the new prime minister and the cabinet members would be made in the next few days.
The sergeant-at-arms said he was not in need of seeking advice from the speaker.
What the speaker said
His comments came after speaker Karu Jayasuriya issued a statement, saying the status that existed before the changes were made shall be accepted.
“…I am compelled to accept the status that existed previously until such time that they and the new political alliance prove their majority in parliament,” he said in the statement.
