The status of the country’s security came under discussion at the meeting, with president Maithripala Sirisena instructing the armed forces to strengthen the prevalent peace.
Accordingly, the military has been deployed to all nerve centres of the country.

President Sirisena stressed that the armed forces have been empowered to protect him and the cabinet led by prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
He has decided to continue with the present administration irrespective of the outcome of a vote in parliament today.
