The Global Sri Lankans Forum says it fully supports president Maithripala Sirisena over his appointment of Mahinda Rajapaksa as the prime minister.

President of the Forum’s Russian branch Dr. Jagath Chandrawansa said that according to what they were made to saw in foreign countries, Sri Lanka was painted as an undemocratic country.

However, the Sri Lankans are unaware how those countries behave, he said, adding that the international community should not interfere in Sri Lanka’s affairs.

We ask those countries to let our people resolve our problem, he said.

It is the premier sacked by the president that foreign diplomats meet, but instead they should go to the president or the new prime minister.

They meet him in order to pressurize the country, he alleged, adding that Sri Lankans should understand their foreign friends and enemies.

Foreign ministry official organized the media briefing

Government sources say this media briefing was organized by a top official of the foreign ministry.

The Forum operates against the Tamil Diaspora and facilitated a team including Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara and Dr. Nalaka Godahewa to make submissions against the good governance government at the 37th sessions of the UNHRC in Geneva early this year.
