Promise for Colombo home for Parami unlikely to be fulfilled Featured

The promise of a house from Colombo for youth Olympics bronze medalist Parami Wasanthi Maristella is unlikely to be fulfilled.

A resident of Chilaw, she was promised a new house through the Urban Habitat Authority by former housing minister Sajith Premadasa on a request by deputy minister Palitha Range Bandara, who visited her native village.

The deed was due to be handed over to her at the opening of an reawakening village at Karuwalagaswewa on October 31.

That opening ceremony has now been canceled.

In the meantime, only Rs. 700,000 has been allocated, out of a Housing Development Authority promised sum of Rs. one million, to renovate Parami’s own home at Ambakandawila.
