Financial fraud allegations against Anandi Sashidaran

A three member committee has been appointed under the directives of the Northern Governor Reginald Cooray to investigate financial fraud allegations amounting to 32 million against the former Northern Provincial Council Women’s and Children’s Minister, according to the Governor’s office.

The relevant committee has been appointed for this investigation based on a complaint lodged by the former NPC Chairman C.V.K. Sivagnanam.

In his complaint Sivagnanam had stated that subsequent to Sashidaran being appointed to her post, she had fraudulently pilfered the money from the fund set up for heart and kidney patients in the Northern Province.

The committee comprising the Northern Province Health Ministry Secretary, Northern Provincial Council Audit Director, has already commenced the investigation.

However, when contacted, Anandi Sashidaran said that this is a conspiracy to tarnish her reputation by the TNA for having left the party and formed her own party.

She claims that she has not committed such a financial fraud.
