“Ranil Wickremesinghe received 117 votes to make him Prime Minister and of them 14 were from the TNA. TNA-MP Mawei Senadhirajah made a special statement saying that although they had voted to make Ranil Wickremesinghe the Prime Minister, the TNA would not join the government and would remain in the opposition. What has happened here is that the UNP with 103 MPs have been taken hostage by the minority TNA.”
He made these comments this morning making a special statement after resigning from the Premiership he claims to have held.
“If the government does not act according to the manner expected by the TNA, the government could lose its majority at any moment. The remote has gone into the hands of the TNA,” Mahinda Rajapaksa said.
Preparation to abolish the Executive Presidency!
Mahinda Rajapaksa claims that the country is going to be divided into nine a semi-independent federal provinces, while the UNP plans on abolishing the executive presidency and the 2019 presidential election.
“They could bring up an issue and delay the 2020 election indefinitely. This is what they are preparing for,” he said.
“However, now that the President is not with the UNP-TNA pack the destruction could be mitigated to some extent. But, there is much that they can do even without the knowledge of the president,” Rajapaksa said.
