Alcohol labelling process to be given to India

Convenor of the Voice Against Corruption Wasantha Samarasinghe has revealed that there is an corrupt attempt to handover the labeling process stamped on alcoholic products, to India.

The annual cost for the label issued by the Excise department for alcohol bottles had been Rs. 2.5 billion so far, but will increase by five fold to Rs. 12 billion once it is handed over to India, he adds.

Noting that several bigwigs in the Finance ministry and alcohol industry are connected to the Tender process involved, Mr. Samarasinghe said he will reveal the entire scam with evidence soon.
