Another suspect arrested with weapons in Puttalam

The STF had arrested a suspect in the possession of a 12 bore rifle and five live bullets without a valid license and handed him over to the Puttalam Police.

The arrest was made around 10.00 pm yesterday (27) in the Mee-Oya reserve in Karuwalagaswewa. The suspect is a 44-year-old resident of Manalgunduwa- Puttalam.

Investigations have revealed that the suspect is a hunter.

The police suspect that other hunters would also have entered the jungle along with the arrested suspect, but they had so far not been identified.

The suspect, along with the weapon and ammunition is expected to be produced in court.

The Puttalam Police is conducting further investigations.
