Indian air passenger dies in Katunayake

An Indian passenger who had arrived at the Katunayake airport to fly back to India has died at the airport terminal today (18).

The victim has been identified as a 52-year-old small scale businessman from Ramanathpuram, India.

In a CCTV footage, it is recorded that the deceased was falling down near to a concrete pillar at the Katunayake International Airport terminal, police said.

The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka has been informed on the incident by the Airport Police.

The Police have also taken measures to report about the incident to the Negombo Magistrate's Court, and taking body to the Negombo hospital morgue. The post mortem will be conducted according to the order to be given by the Magistrate’s Court.

The Katunayake Airport Police are conducting further investigations
