'Pohottuwa' says presidential candidacy cannot be given to the SLFP Featured

The SLPP leaders have informed the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), when forming a broader political alliance, the Chairmanship of the alliance or the presidential candidacy cannot be given to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), a senior member of the SLFP has told “Sunday Divaina”.

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) members are deeply depressed due to the failure of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) to come up with contradictory proposals other than agreeing to the proposals put forward by the SLPP.

The President has vehemently warned the SLFP representatives to be silent of proposals of making a SLFP member the Presidential nominee and alliance’s chairman.

SLFP MPs in a strict decision

Nimal Siripala de Silva, Mahinda Amaraweera, Duminda Dissanayake, Lasantha Alagiyawanna and several other stalwarts of the party are preparing to make a strong decision during the month of March as it is pointless to form an alliance letting down the SLFP.

Meanwhile, SLFP National Organizer Duminda Dissanayake says that the proposal to make President Maithripala Sirisena the opposition’s presidential candidate should unconditionally be supported leader of the opposition, Mahinda Rajapaksa and the SLPP (Pohottuwa).

He further stated that only Maithreepala Sirisena has to be the presidential candidate of the UPFA led by the SLFP at the next presidential election.
