Akila is in a fine kettle of fish ; Complaint lodged at Presidential commission

It is reported that the Presidential Commission appointed to investigate corruption and fraud in state enterprises during the last 4 years has received a complaint on the Suraksha insurance policy.

It was directed by former Minister Dr. Wijedasa Rajapaksa.

The complaint states that Rs. 2300 million had been misused through the Suraksha insurance cover that had not been redeemed any benefit to students.

Additionally, Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapakse has lodged a complaint to the Commission alleging that state funds to the tune of 29 million rupees have been misused by the minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam by sparing a page in school text books to insert his picture.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Commission noted that a complaint has been lodged against Vice Chancellor of the University of Oceanic Studies, Thilak Dharmaratne regarding a financial fraud committed by him at the university.

The complaint has been lodged by the Joint Trade Union Alliance.

At present, 522 complaints have been received by the Commission. Complaints will be received till the 14th of this month.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Mirror has learnt that the Ministry of Education has allocated huge sum of money for advertising on television, radio and newspapers, though no funds have been set aside for advertising campaigns by the budget, and we will continue to reveal information in this connection.
