Japanese employment racket busted from Battaramulla

Officers of the Special Investigation Unit of Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau have raided a place that has been collecting money from people, promising employment in Japan.

Parliamentarian Manusha Nanayakkara had immediately taken steps to dispatch sleuths to raid the place called Royal Plaza building in Battaramulla, following a tip-off received by him.

Two persons have been arrested during the raid. The suspects are residents of Polonnaruwa and Thalangama.

During the raid, the investigating officers have found 13 passports, Japanese job applications, photocopy of passports, color photographs, receipts of money, job advertisements and other documents. Further investigations are on the racket and the suspects have run the place in the pretext of air ticketing agency.

They have obtained Rs. 12 lakhs from each person to provide employment opportunities in Japan, and some of duped persons have also come with investigating officers.
