Recruitment of teachers becomes a fiasco due to Peshala Jayaratne Featured

Governor of the North Western Province Peshala Jayaratne has canceled the interview for the recruitment of English teachers in consequent to the competitive examination conducted according to the gazette notification issued on November 23.

The pass mark of the exam was 40 and 261 out of  871 candidates has been qualified  in the examination. The North Western Provincial Council had sent letters to the students stating that they would conduct interviews for all candidates who passed the examination on the 16th of March 2016.  However, the Provincial Council has informed the students via a telephone message that the interview has been postponed due to an unavoidable situation after 05 pm on 15.03.2010.

Since the reasons for the decision were not given, the students who passed the examination had gone to the provincial council office, there had been no one to clarify the situation.   Later on Secretary of the Provincial Council Padmini Kariyawasam has said that Governor Peshala Jayarathna had informed to cancel the interview. 

The governor has said the decision was taken on a request made by a group including the HNDE Convener Chintaka Palapathwala.

Rs. 600 has been paid as examination fees by the candidates and they have also paid for tuition classes too.

Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera speaking to our news team stated that the problem will be solved without any injustice causing to anybody.
