Fake degree certificate of a Sathosa boss exposed Featured

The Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake yesterday (26) ordered the CID to get the advice of the Attorney General to file indictments against Gamini Ratnasiri Perera who had gained appointment as the Deputy General Manager of Sathosa, by producing fake degree certificates from the Sri Jayawardenapura University.

The Magistrate stated that the suspect had presented a forged certificate which belonged to someone else and his salary had been paid with state funds based on this fake qualification, adding that indictments should be filed under the public property Act. He ordered that the final report on this suspect be presented to courts on March 28.

The Magistrate issued this order when the attorney Kingsley Hettiarachchi representing the 56-year-old suspect had told court that his client is prepared to plead guilty to the charges against him.

Based on a tip-off the Fraud Investigation Division had conducted investigations and he was arrested on January 15 from his residence in Piliyandala. He was produced in court and released on a Rs. 100,000 surety.
