Tamil protestors waving LTTE flags at Ranil in UK, released (video) Featured

The four Tamil protestors who were waiving LTTE flags at a high level university in Britain where Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was delivering a lecture, had been released without any charge.

The four protestors including Sokkalingam Yogalingam of the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) were arrested last October at Oxford under the Prevention of Terrorism laws, but was later released by the Abington Police on the grounds that there was insufficient evidence to charge them.

The Thames Valley Police had arrested the TGTE member along with Shakya Raj Fernando, Dhanushan Mahadevan and Selvaganesan Sivasudhan for wearing clothing in support of a banned organisation in a public place.

The protest was held at the Oxford University organised during Wickremasinghe’s visit to speak at the Oxford Union.

Some were seen wearing tee-shirts bearing Velupillai Prabhakan’s image and bearing red LTTE flags.

The police had also taken into custody the placards held by the protestors at the protest.
