Ajith P. Perera had posted pictures of UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa which sought the views of the people regarding their choice for Presidency. It has drawn a significant response so far.
Based on the response, by this morning (08) Ranil Wickremesinghe has received 28% while 72% had cast their vote for Sajith Premadasa.

However, Ajith P. Perera’s actions have been severely criticised by the social media groups operated by the Prime Minister’s media unit.
This is one of the posts. “Sir, you are trying to create a divide. Therefore, if you have someone in mind do say it, but don’t try to create divisions. Shameful. The supporters don’t expect such third rate actions from an educated person.”
This is another post. “I won’t comment on this post. If not deleted. However, we are not on any side, be it Ranil or Sajith. The only thing is that we must forge ahead united.”
Meanwhile, when Sri Lanka Mirror inquired from Minister Ajith P. Perera whether he would remove this FB post based on such criticism, he said there was absolutely no need to remove the post.
The parties in the UNF are currently engaged in talks regarding the candidate from the UNF to contest the Presidential election.
