Easter Sunday attack victims say no to compensation

A group of individuals who were to receive compensation over the Easter Sunday attack have boycott an event organized to provide compensation at Kadinal Coorey Centre in Negombo today (16 May).

They have criticized the event as an attempt at popularity and political gains.

The event was held under the precedence of Tourism Development and Wildlife and Christian Religious Affairs Minister John Amaratunga and United National Party parliamentarian Dr.Kavinda Jayawardena also attended the event.

A couple who lost their parents and the child due to the attack has boycotted the event saying that they do not wish to get compensation from the politicians who are there for political gains.

The people who attended the event were residents of Katana. The patients who are still under treatment have also attended the event.
