Australia to assist probes on Easter Sunday attacks

Australian Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton addressing a media briefing today ( 04 June) in Colombo stated that a team of 20 Australian professionals are assisting the forensic investigations of the Easter Sunday attack.

He made these comments responding to a question raised by a journalist regarding the assistance provided by the Australian government in the process of investigating the terrorist attack.

The Australian Minister further stated that the attack, which caused the death of nearly 58 children and injuries to over 500, is a terrifying attack and the the Australian Federal Police have been supporting Sri Lanka from the beginning to investigate the attack.

He further stated that his government believes that these investigations to some extent will offer justice to the victims of the attack.

The coordination with regard to investigations were based on the bilateral corporation and the understanding between the two countries, he added.
