In 2016 the global FDI flowing into the country stood at $ 1.87 Trillion, but this figure had dropped to $ 1.43 Trillion in 2017.
The Investment Promotion Board claims that the reduction of amalgamation or acquisition of investments by in another country by 22% has led to the Infrastructure based investments to drop by 14%.
However, while the FDIs of other developing Asian countries had been stable in 2017, Sri Lanka had witnessed this drop.
Further, the Direct Investments which flowed out of Sri Lanka in 2017 had increased by 2.9% to $ 1430 billion.
