'Next presidential election in May 2020' Featured

The official document seeking Supreme Court clarification regarding the end of the term of the current President has been prepared by the Presidential Secretariat, it is reported.

Currently, this secret document is in the custody of an Additional Secretary of the Presidential Secretariat.

However, according to lower rung officers at the Presidential Secretariat, there is no definite date as to when the letter would be presented.

The President is seeking Supreme Court clarification on whether his official term commences on 15 May, 2015, the date the Speaker put his signature on the 19th Amendment.

In the event the Supreme Court approval is received, the Presidential election would be called in May, 2020 and not September 2019.

According to very reliable sources, a prominent political figure is said to be supporting the president in his decision to clarify the Supreme Court stand on his term. In the event the President’s appeal is accepted by the
Supreme Court, the Presidential election could be called in May 2020 and after January 28th, 2020, the president has the power to dissolve parliament and call for a general election.
