A spokesman from Sajith's group said that they have received information on a group which is making an attempt to oust Premadasa from UNP and after a meeting with Speaker Karu Jayasuriya yesterday (22) Sajith Premadasa has informed his close allies that he will not leave the party for which his father gave his life.
The news on a plan to appoint 30 members to the Working Committee emerged as Prime Minister's Office announced on Friday (20 September) that the Prime Minister's Office has canceled a ceremony to hand over appointment letters to 1,918 pincipals of the Principal Grade at 9.30 am on the 21st of this month under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The Prime Minister's Office which had announced the cancellation of the event has requested Independent Television Network (ITN) to send a camera to cover a programme on the 21st.
It has been revealed that those who were trying to remove Sajith from the UNP have received information regarding the request and later they have created the news, reports say.
Meanwhile, Central Province Governor Keerthi Tennakoon posted a note on his Facebook page yesterday saying, " similar to Swan (Hansaya) in 2010 and 2015 all in place for the most special nomination"
Political analysts have expressed the view that this is regarding a new alliance that is to be formed with Sajith.
