The Aruna newspaper had reported that due to complaints being received that the election campaign of Premadasa was not being done satisfactorily, the Prime Minister had decided to take it under his direct supervision.
Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa had also endorsed the decision taken by Wickremesinghe. The election office at Vauxhall Street will function as Sajith Premadasa’s private election campaign centre.
Meanwhile, the UNP denied media reports being published yesterday that Sajith Premadasa’s election campaign propaganda operations had been handed over to former UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake.
The Prime Minister had taken measures to conduct Sajith Premadasa’s election operations from another location at Green Path. The former Director of the Government Information Centre Ranga Kalansooriya has been appointed as the head of the media operations.
