Thajudeen murder : CID to summon Shiranthi? Featured

Former first lady - Shiranthi Rajapaksa's behaviour during the night of the Wasim Thajudeen murder has been deemed as 'deeply suspicions' by the CID team investigating the murder case, says a police official.

Although it has been months since the CID team had requested for phone call details of Temple Trees, granting the request has been deliberately delayed due to the intervention of senior DIG Wickramasinghe, who is in charge of the Presidential Security now as well as during the days of President Rajapaksa, the officer added.

After the CID recently informed courts of this intervention, the Magistrate ordered to immediately provide the necessary details.

41 outgoing calls

Investigating the call records have revealed that there have been 41 outgoing calls from Temple Trees that night and the number was found to be the private number of Mrs. Rajapaksa.

The majority of these phone calls had been dialed to the mobile phones of the then Narahenpita OIC and the then HQI of the Mt. Lavinia police.

Accordingly, Mrs. Rajapaksa could soon be summoned to the CID to obtain a clarification.

President intervenes

On an earlier instance, the CID was about to arrest Mrs. Rajapaksa when the move was prevented by President Maithripala Sirisena. Instead, the CID was compelled to go to her residence to obtain a statement.
