Pvt. uni students to get more chances for student loans Featured

Cabinet approval has been granted to expand opportunities to enrol in interest-free student loan scheme granted for students to pursue degree courses at non-state higher education institutes.

The loan scheme is currently in operation; however, the scheme has failed to attract the targeted number of students.

According to experts, the lack of demand in the job market for the courses selected for this programme and the insufficient contribution of these courses towards economic development are main factors for this.

Accordingly, The Ministry of Higher Education hopes to re-vamp the loan scheme. Under the ‘Vision of Prosperity’, this loan scheme is to be expanded to bring about 10,000 graduates in the fields of information and communication technology, where there is a high rate of employment opportunities.
