No dowry issues between SLPP and SLFP - Basil Featured

It is reported that the issues between  Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) with regard to the upcoming general election have been resolved.

It is said that the two parties are making arrangements to form and alliance to contest the forthcoming general election under SLPP symbol.

Following an inquiry Basil Rajapaksa, the founder of SLPP, said that there was no problem in the two parties contesting at the forthcoming general election together.

Rajapaksa says that the marriage between SLFP and SLPP will not fail in the long run due to dowry issues.

Issues in selecting Polonnaruwa-Kurunegala candidates

However, it is reported that during the discussions between the two parties, an issue has emerged regarding the selection of candidates from Kurunegala and Polonnaruwa districts.

Former President Maithripala Sirisena is to contest in the Polonnaruwa district and an ideological clash has begun between the candidates with regard to the votes.

It has been regarding the challenges that they will have to face if the former President gets more or less votes.
In addition, the Kurunegala district has faced a serious problem in the selection of candidates due to the large number of candidates seeking nominations.

Kurunegala District which has 14 seats can accommodate 17 nominations.

It is reported that there are already 8 MPs representing Kurunegala district and there are new candidates as well as candidates from other parties supporting SLPP.
