Will stay on for the team even if stripped of captaincy - Malinga Featured

Sri Lanka's legendary fast bowler - Lasith Malinga says he is ready to do his best for the team even if he is stripped of captaincy.

"When we took over the team we were ranked #9 and it is disappointing that we have to play in a qualifier to contest the Twenty20 World Cup," he said.

Malinga further added:

"In every tournament, I tried my best to secure victory while providing the maximum possible experience for the newcomers. According to our plans, Every player should try to do their best and display their best talents.  However, in the recent past, we were unable to bring out the best of our players' talents. We are still trying. For me, the captaincy is not a problem nor a factor deciding whether i will continue playing.  I have already informed to Sri Lanka Cricket that if something is required from me, to go ahead and get it. If it is possible to single handedly win a game, I would do so,"

Malinga maintains that added that it was compulsory to provide a stand for young players while targeting the Twenty20 World Cup.
