CEB confirms unscheduled powers cuts after CPC stopped fuel Featured

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has conceded that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) stoppage of fuel supply to the CEB resulted in an unscheduled power cut on February 3.

The CEB has sent its report to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) - the electricity sector regulator.

The PUCSL had called for a report  on the two to two- and half-hour power cuts on 3rd of February 2020 impacted many parts of Sri Lanka.

‘The report is submitted as per the request made by PUCSL, as carrying out a planned power interruption, other than unplanned power interruption, without the approval of the PUCSL, is an offence under the provision of the Sri Lanka Electricity Act No 20 of 2009 (as amended).’, the PUCSL said.
