SLFP to contest under ‘hand’ for 4 districts

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party has decided to contest the 2020 General Election from the Kalutara, Vanni, Kandy and Jaffna districts under the symbol of the hand.

Senior Vice Chairman of the SLFP Prof. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa said the decision was reached owing to certain issues that arose pertaining to the submission of nominations for the relevant districts under the Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Alliance.

Piyadasa noted that several other concerns persist, adding that the Politburo of the SLFP will convene tonight to discuss and resolve existing concerns.

He said the alliance has not granted the SLFP nominations, adding that only one seat has been granted in the Colombo, Gampaha, Galle, Matara and Monaragala districts, causing a tense situation within the alliance.
