Election, possible by end of June - Dilum

Former state minister Dilum Amunugama says it would be possible to hold the general election before the end of June after the risk of Covid-19 rapidly declines.

He was saying thus while addressing the media in Kandy.

First, we must rid ourselves of this catastrophic situation. The election was postponed because it cannot be held at this time. However, there is a period of three months until the end of June. We don't expect this situation would prevail until then, he said.

He added that Sri Lanka fared better than other countries.

“Elections are not held for us to go to parliament and obtain ministerial portfolios, but because a government is required to govern the country, he further said.
