Deputy editor of ‘Deshaya’ Prasad Abeywickrama will be the first to leave, this week.
The newspaper network by Mahendran, who is accused over the Central Bank bond sales, is offering attractive remunerations to win over the Wijaya Newspapers staff, who are dejected due to their not being given salary increments and getting their rights curtailed by the day.
Some of its leading journalists are to join Mahendran’s newspapers on salaries exceeding Rs. 01 million, reports add.
However, the staffs of ‘The Sunday Leader’ and ‘Irudina’, also run by Aloysius together with minister Ravi Karunanayake, have not been paid their salaries for about three two months now.
