The sailors were tested for Covid-19 on the morning of May 17. However, before the test results arrived in the evening, they had also taken part in the rehearsals of the military parade held in the same day.
Navy spokesman Lieutenant Commander Isuru Sooriyabandara said that a second PCR test has been done to verify the results of the first test.
Meanwhile, all contacts of these two sailors, including members of the Tri forces and police have been directed to the Attidiya Quarantine Centre.
Accordingly, around 140 police officers including STF officers, police band members have been directed to the Attidiya Quarantine Centre while cultural and dance units of the police have been quarantined in the police buildings in Malalasekara Mawatha, Colombo.
Also, 30 sailors who joined the military parade rehearsal have been quarantined separately.
Accordingly, it is learnt that only floral tributes will be paid at the War Hero monument.
Two Sri Lanka Navy personnel who have taken part in a rehearsal of the War Heroes' Commemoration, have been tested positive for Covid-19, the 'Aruna' newspaper reports.
