Monk who survived Aranthalawa massacre seeks legal action Featured

A Buddhist monk who sustained critical injuries following the Aranthalawa massacre filed a Fundamental Rights petition in the Supreme Court today (30).

The petition filed by Ven. Andaulpatha Buddhasara Thera seeks an order to prosecute any living LTTE member involved in the massacre as well as a compensation of Rs. 20 million to the monk.

The petition names Acting IGP, State Intelligence Director and the Attorney General as respondents.

Thirty-three Buddhist monks, most of them young novice monks, and four civilians were killed by the LTTE at Aranthalawa in 1987.
