Repatriation flights suspended from Tuesday Featured

With diagnosis of a high number of COVID-19 patients at Kandakadu Rehabilitation Center it has been decided to temporarily suspend the repatriation flights operated by SriLankan Airlines, says Additional Secretary to the President  Admiral Jayanath Colombage, who is coordinating the operation.

The decision is expected to take effect on Tuesday (14 July).

Sri Lankans trapped in London, Australia, India, Pakistan, the Middle East, the Maldives and many other European countries were to be brought back to the island.

The lack of space in the country's quarantine centers and requirement to provide quarantine facilities to Kandakadu detainees and their families have caused this situation.

It is said that the quarantine facilities are provided free of charge for those who arrive in Sri Lanka and only those who are quarantined in hotels have to pay for it.
