The Indian Premier League will be held in the United Arab Emirates from September 19 to November 20.
According to the rules of Sri Lanka Cricket, no Sri Lankan player can participate in IPL during the period of LPL.
Malinga and Udana will also be required to spend 72 hours in quarantine in the UAE, missing at least the first few days before joining their teams.
Malinga will represent Mumbai Indians while Udana will represent Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament.
