JVP made best contributions to budget debate Featured

The JVP has made the best contributions to the 2017 budget debate, reports.

Four of the five MPs who had spoken most during the debate are from that party.

In first place is Anura Kumara Dissanayake, followed by Sunil Handunnetti and Bimal Ratnayake in second and third places respectively.

The JVP has missed the fourth place to Douglas Devananda, but has returned to claim the fifith for Vijitha Herath.

Dissanayake has spoken on 353 occasions, covering the subjects of agriculture, plantations, livestock, fisheries, governance, administration and parliamentary affairs, justice, security and public peace, national heritages, media and sports, commerce and industries, economy and finance.

The second placed Handunnetti has spoken on 236 occasions covering 14 subjects.
