20th Amendment as separate clauses Featured

It is reported that a proposal has been submitted to the government to present the 20th Amendment to the Constitution in Parliament as separate clauses.

It is said that the relevant proposal has come from a group of backbenchers of the government and the parties supporting the government.

However, it is reported that the government's allies have already set conditions on the 20th Amendment.

Accordingly, they have submitted three proposals to the government to re-include the clause which limited the number of cabinet members to 30, to remove the clause that  allows dual citizens to contest general elections and to re-include the clause that establishes the National Audit Commission.

The media has reported that the allied parties are preparing to hold discussions with the President, the Prime Minister and the National Organizer of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna,  Basil Rajapaksa in this regard in the future.
