This has been revealed during a special audit conducted by the National Audit Office on the role of the NCPA in child abuse in Sri Lanka.
According to the audit report released on July 11 this year, public complaints regarding child abuse had been received from 2011 to 09 September 2019.
The audit report also revealed that the number of complaints finalized was 37,186 and the turnout was 53%.
The highest number of child abuse complaints received from 25 districts of the country from 2011 to 2018 were received from Colombo, Gampaha, Kurunegala and Galle districts.
Although more than 35% of the complaints received by the NCPA have been received from these four districts, the audit report further states that no prompt action has been taken to investigate those complaints.
