Two persons have died after a car collided with the Kandy – Beliatta train at the railway crossing near the Koggala Fertilizer warehouse today (16).
According to reports, the car which had gotten entangled with the train had been dragged nearly 400 meters to the next railway crossing near the Koggala Air Force Camp.
Area residents had attempted to rescue two individuals who were trapped in the car, but it is reported that they had succumbed to injuries by then.
The bodies were taken to the Karapitiya hospital for postmortem.
