Two students have reportedly drowned after falling into a water hole in the vicinity of the Vavuniya University Sports Ground today (Aug 17).
The incident had occurred after a zonal “Elle” match which was held in the Vavuniya University Sports Ground.
Police say that the two deceased students were aged 14 and 15 years.
A search had commenced after it was discovered that the students were missing. Their bodies were found in the water hole and were recovered by the police,
The bodies are currently placed at the Vavuniya Hospital.
Poovarasankulam Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
