Origin of 2nd Covid-19 wave, from overseas?

Army commander - Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva has stated that the origin of the second wave of Covid-19 in the country should be from abroad.

He said this while speaking during the 'Derana Aruna' TV program this morning (18).

Noting that the last contact of the Kandakadu cluster was found in the end of August, the Army commander said that accordingly, Covid-19 did not exist in the society since then.

"Even in Colombo, the last found case from society was found in April 30. However, people came down from overseas. Even yesterday, 06 seafarers have been tested positive. In that sense, we have uncovered some findings but it is not possible to say for sure until it is finally confirmed,” he stated.
