The top two candidates of the 2024 Presidential Election will enter a second counting phase as no candidate has secured over 50% of the total votes.
Making a special statement before the media a short while ago, Chairman of the Election Commission, R.M.A.L. Ratnayake has stated that from this point onwards, all candidates except for leading candidates – Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Sajith Premadasa will be eliminated.
“All counting centres have been asked to go for the second preference count and send in the result to the Commission,” he added.
